This image depicts this micro invalidation and micro assault on teachers of color when they are instructed on how to keep Black and Brown children in control under a punitive system in a way that sends racial insults to my people in a way that is reminiscent of the life on a plantation as depicted by Frederick Douglass. This has caused me and other persons to experience historical trauma, When I show members of my community this photo they recognize the whip and say .... "Yes, that is true. This is very real. Are you the only black person in your program? Well, I am not sure they want to hear our perspective. Thank you, I think what your doing is great. - Success Academy - Parent"
